The Bent El-Nile Foundation “Under Establishment” published a report entitled “Murdered Twice”, the press coverage of the murder of the student Naira.” Through it we try to provide a critical reading of the news coverage of the murder of the student Naira within a sample of the Egyptian press platforms, and examine the extent to which these coverages adhere to professional rules  and ethical standards of journalistic work, as well as the extent to which coverage takes into account gender-sensitive reporting standards.
The report consists of two chapters, the first chapter presents some principles for covering gender-based violence crimes in general, while the second chapter deals with an analysis of 396 news articles published by websites (Akhbar Al-Youm – Masrawy – Al-Watan) from June 20, 2022 to June 26, 2022  These coverages contained 320 violations of professional standards for journalistic and media work, or the principles for gender-sensitive reporting.
At the end of the report, the Foundation presents a set of recommendations to the authorities concerned with the press and media file in Egypt with the aim of re-correcting the press coverage of gender-based violence crimes in line with the standards of gender-sensitive coverage, and the values of equality and human dignity.
